Barny Haughton (more)

Barny has spent this time building strong links with local farmers, cheese makers, millers and brewers.  An active supporter of Soil Association’s Food for Life project, and a committed member of the Bristol Slow Food Convivium Barny continues to chair the Soil Association’s Organic Food Awards.

Barny has trained over forty chefs over the years, all of whom now practise what he preaches; some students taught by him at Quartier Vert workshops will be joining him in the kitchen at Bordeaux Quay.

In May 2006 Barny was awarded The  Glenfiddich Independent Spirit Award, which recognises a piece of work, individual or campaign making an outstanding contribution towards widening the understanding and appreciation of food and drink in Britain.

Rick Stein calls Barny a ‘real food hero.’
